it improves mpg and hp towards the higher end, like highway driving, where you're more likely to have your throttle open more. you wont notice too much of a difference during city driving, unless you complete the system with other components. everything is tied together and changing only one thing does little

The faster and easier you can get air in and out, the easier and more efficient your motor will be. Your stock air intake is pretty much the same thing as your exhaust, a noise reduction.

also, you may want to look into something like a K&N stock air filter replacement cause they are like only 50 bucks and soo easy to put in..
