Default is the 2.3l duratec the most difficult to maintain?

on another forum , there was a thread where a guy said that the 2.3 duratec is the most difficult and most expensive ranger engine to maintain. would you guys agree?

I havent worked on other rangers, but mine is definitely a pain, and can be expensive to work on. I havent done a ton to my truck, but i do know that the PCV valve is impossible to reach, doing a tune up is way more of a chore than it needs to be, and the thermastat costs anywhere from $85 to $115. I have also heard that replacing the water pump is no walk in the park. I am thankful, though, that it has a timing chain instead of a belt.

What do you guys think, what is the most difficult to maintain ranger?

Honestly, I guess I couldn't say for sure yet.. I just got the truck 5 months ago, and haven't had to do anything to it yet. Just a quick glance on mine, I didn't see anything out of the norm with now days engine design.

I'm planning on having the dealer do the schedule/oil change work on it since I got the extended warranty on it, i'd rather have all the papers trail on it if something did go wrong.

Anyone that says changing spark plug on a 2.3 is a pain has never done it on a 4.0

Maintenance should be relatively easy for it they are smaller and things are easier to get too

I've heard from my father there used to be this V6 or V8 where you had to lift the engine up out of the bay to get to one of the plugs... So yes, I'm sure it can get much worse
