How rare?
I'm looking for a 98-2000 ford ranger 4door, 2wd, 5 speed. How rare are these? Im guessing most came with the v-6 combo's. Thanks for the help.

Re: How rare?
Depends on what you mean by 4 door. Do you mean an extended cab with the 4 door option, or do you mean a crew cab Ranger with a center pillar in the middle?

Re: How rare?
Any 2.5L is gonna be 2wd. Ford didn't make a 4wd 4 cyl in those years. My buddy had a 2000 2wd, 2.5L, Extended Cab, manual. It also had power doors and cruise.

Re: How rare?
Yeah, I cant seem to find any extended cab with the 4 door option and have the 2.5 along w/5speed and keep the 2wd. There are plenty of standard extended cab models and they always have the v-6 options instead w/4x4. Not looking for the one with the pillar in the middle. My 97 Ranger with single cab 2wd,5 speed, 2.3 has almost 200,000 miles and runs like a champ. Just looking rough now. It seems to be a magnet for other cars to hit. I would like a little extra room, but as a former mechanic I hate the problem plagued 3.0 and 4.0 engines. I love the 2.3 and 2.5 bulletproof 4 bangers.

Re: How rare?
Okay, you're lookin at an XL then. However, as you've noticed, finding an XL Supercab with 4 doors is pretty hard. I'm not even sure that was an allowable option from factory.

Re: How rare?
Good luck on your search. Most of the ones I run in to are automatics and have the 3.0 in them. My buddy has a 98 5 speed 4x4 4.0 in his.

Re: How rare?
Ok, On www.kbb.com they seem to list this option as well as a picture. I looked up 98 ford ranger extended cab 4 door option and then they also had the 2.5 engine w/5 speed as an option.

Re: How rare?
good luck, its a very unique truck kind of like mine, I wanted it Sport 2wd, Manual with AC Sport Bucket Seats, Power Group and Cruise. There is only one in all Canada and it will be mine in a few short days. There must be a few out there the way you are looking for, the question is if the owners are selling them.

Re: How rare?
I don't think they keep tabs on sales numbers for every option.
You're more than likely gonna have to sacrifice the 4 door option. I've seen plenty of 4 banger Supercabs, but none of them have had 4 doors.

Re: How rare?
why would anyone be dumb enough to purposely order a 2WD truck when they live in canada or anywhere it snows?
