Either one. By removing either the inertia switch connector or fuel pump fuse, then taking the gas cap off and cranking the engine, you accomplish the step of depressurizing the fuel line.

Congrats man! I first changed the oil on a vehicle when I was 13. I was so proud. That was on a 302 powered F150, so it was easy as hell to get to. I had to pull the oil filter in my Ranger out through the side of the wheel well. Definitely a pain.

Thats fine and dandy but what did you do with the old oil and filter ? While you were at it did you check the air filter and belts , brake fluids , coolant , check for leaks ? The transmission level ? How about your tires hows the PSI ? That's what they are suppose to do at lube joint .

I know your not a tech like me but this is all basic stuff , and it only takes 5 minutes and will save your hrs of repair or replace costs.

Sorry no laughs here

I returned the oil to the local auto parts store. And yes, I checked all of those things. I replaced my air filter after my last oil change. Coolant was checked when it got cold here last week...and everything else was checked also. I'm anal about my tire pressure. It gets checked quite often b/c of the cold and warmer weather swings here in Bama.

Thanks for asking....that is important stuff.

Congrats on the first oil change. Just remember to make sure you always remove the old rubber gasket along with the old oil filter. It's scary to see the oil flowing all out from the bottom when the truck warms up and you're checking for leaks - that's something you only do once.
