No tools needed for our year,Superlifted06FX4 (unless your FX filter replacement is different from my sport for some reason). All you really need is a Flat head screwdriver.
I took off the gas cap, removed the fuel pump fuse from the box under the hood (It was # 23 on mine....could be diff on yours. I dunno if it even matters if you remove the fuse), I unhooked the inertia plug from the reset switch, and tried to crank my truck to make sure...it wouldn't crank.
I just took the fuel filter off my removing the 3 quick connects that are plugged into the filter by pushing on the colored ""push rings..or whatever"", then pulled them out just like an air compressor fitting.
After a tad bit of gas came out (get a bucket just in case). I just removed the fuel filter from its black bracket that holds it on. You can just pull it out on mine...its just wedged in there...no biggie.
Its pretty cool....the frame underneath the filter is like a V-slope type dip so if you get any gas on the frame, it just drains out through a hole at the bottom of the dip.
Then just did everything in reverse order...and low and behold, my truck cranked and I have now officially changed my oil....and changed my fuel filter.
The fuel filter change was actually easier and far less messy than changing my oil.
Yay!! I think my penis grew 1/4 of an inch today and yesterday!! LOL
Pic: Just push the colored clip with a flat head screwdriver and pull the connection and it will come off easily.
