Congrats on doing it yourself! I have friends that call me up when they get a flat tire because they don't know how to change it and they are simply amazed at how I know how to do that. Even though its a pretty simple thing like changing a flat or the oil it still feels good to know you did it your self at a fraction of the cost!

Just beware of the impending "tool junky" lurking inside us all that you have just awoken in yourself!

You're right.

This sounds froo-froo, but it made me feel a "special" bond with me and my truck. Almost like when you do it with your girlfriend for the first time. ;-)

It has brought out my inner "tool junky".

Even tho I'm a "business guy", living in Alabama gives me an inherent ability to work on vehicles. I just needed it to surface.

From what I've pieced together from here, and the rest of the net, it shouldn't be that hard of a job...even for a newbie like me.
Mine doesn't look like a quick connect I've seen before. Plus it's too cold to play with it right now.

Thats one thing I do have actually..is tools and stuff. My family owns a local Hardware and Building Supply in town...so I have access to all of that. I have a garage full of wrenches, sockets, drills, etc etc.

I can fix and replace anything inside a home...but never ventured into the realm under the hood of any vehicle I've had.

If you have those plastic clips, I used needle nose pliers to pop them out and it worked well. Just make sure you take your gas cap off so you dont spew too much gas all over

This is great. I recently cut the top off my bug. Scary feeling going into it but afterwards you feel great. A feeling of accomplishment, huh?

And congrats.
No tools needed for our year,Superlifted06FX4 (unless your FX filter replacement is different from my sport for some reason). All you really need is a Flat head screwdriver.

I took off the gas cap, removed the fuel pump fuse from the box under the hood (It was # 23 on mine....could be diff on yours. I dunno if it even matters if you remove the fuse), I unhooked the inertia plug from the reset switch, and tried to crank my truck to make sure...it wouldn't crank.

I just took the fuel filter off my removing the 3 quick connects that are plugged into the filter by pushing on the colored ""push rings..or whatever"", then pulled them out just like an air compressor fitting.

After a tad bit of gas came out (get a bucket just in case). I just removed the fuel filter from its black bracket that holds it on. You can just pull it out on mine...its just wedged in there...no biggie.

Its pretty cool....the frame underneath the filter is like a V-slope type dip so if you get any gas on the frame, it just drains out through a hole at the bottom of the dip.

Then just did everything in reverse order...and low and behold, my truck cranked and I have now officially changed my oil....and changed my fuel filter.

The fuel filter change was actually easier and far less messy than changing my oil.

Yay!! I think my penis grew 1/4 of an inch today and yesterday!! LOL

Pic: Just push the colored clip with a flat head screwdriver and pull the connection and it will come off easily.

Lol just ask Clinton. I am sure he will find a way to fit all of that by using a paperclip and a rubber bansd
