how bad is it......?
if my truck NEVER had the transmission serviced in it's 11 years & 73k miles of existance? im thinking that's why my trans is starting to downshift funny but im not sure... probibly gonna pick up some kind of dump in wonder addative and hope that helps it untill i can get it up on a lift and do a proper trans service....
anyone else think that could be my problem? trucks an '00 xlt 4x4 with a 3.0 and an auto O/D trans

It wouldn't hurt, but I don't know if it will solve your downshift problem

Re: how bad is it......?
Change the fluid and filter on it. Additives might help, just be careful about what you buy.

Re: how bad is it......?
I wouldn't flush it. Transmissions that are as old as yours and have never been serviced are known to blow after a flush.

Re: how bad is it......?
i know i like the lucas products, dumped some into my buddies 250k mile B3000 and it smoothed the shifts out real nice. also dumped some into his neighbors escort and the car went from having 1st gear to having 2nd, 3rd and OD, lol. its still running around like that too
im just hoping that my waiting untill i have warmer weather acess to a shop to work on it dosin't really screw anything up... we'll see!

that thought crossed my mind but it's a risk i'll have to take.
i'll never forget my dad telling me about the kid in his auto shop class who flushed the powerglide in his '66 impala, the teacher had told him to save the old ATF until he knew the car would drive. sure enough, the car wouldint move with the new ATF, they dumped the old back in and it drove fine!
