Not unless we pay them! It's all about money and thats it.

This. Ford is playing a nice game of bait and switch. The price of the F150 may be nice right now, but as soon as the Ranger is no longer an option, BOOM 5K added to the base price tag. Of course, it won't be that much, but it will sure seem like it. The world economy is fed by greed. Ford went with what made them more money. They could care less what the consumers think. It only matters to them when they know that it'll make them lose money in the end.

It's really common sense. If most people took the time to look around at the way the world runs, they'd see it too.

I'll have to respectfully disagree.

It's not common sense, but rather the exact opposite. If people don't buy their product ("caring less what the consumer thinks"), then Ford doesn't make a profit. It's not like it is their goal to market products people don't want to buy and lose market share to competitors. You, or anyone else, doesn't have to buy an F150, or any other Ford product, if you don't want to. As much as I love Rangers (and they suit me from the ground up), the market has shown a steady decline in sales from the compact truck segment for all makers, therefore it is not particularly feasible financially to continue to market a product for an increasingly niche market. And I also don't agree that "greed" drives the market. That's what a particular political group would like you to believe, that capitalism is inherently bad. That making a profit is dirty. That excelling @ designing, manufacturing, marketing, and delivering a product or good to the public is an evil pursuit driven by lustful greed. A more representative definition of greed would be a government, which has no source of income except what it takes from its citizens, and which produces nothing, except appalling debt and restrictive laws to, little by little, erode your liberties.

are you so naive thinking ford is so behind in their production that your truck is waiting to actually be built?? don't be gullable. Ford will not ship any rangers until they get enough orders. Your truck is sitting outside in the lot with the other rangers waiting to be shipped when the dealerships in your area get enough requests. Oh, and your truck will be a re badged 2010. too bad, so sad.

If they brought the Taurus back by popular demand surely they would have to do the same for the Ranger.

The thing with the taurus was that they still had the five-hundred was the same size as the Tarus was or around the same size. It just didn't do well so they put the Tarus name back on it. I think that the Ranger will disappear for a few years and come back redesigned. Much like GM did with the Camero. I think that once Ford loses their small truck, they will lost customers, their hope is that the Ranger people will by the F-150, but I think instead they will go to another company that has a small truck like Toyota or GM.

I don't think it will be gone for long but thats just me. Maybe I'm just in denial that they are getting rid of these great trucks.

I agree, if a person likes the smaller type trucks and Ford doesn't offer one they will find another Mfg. that does offer one. That's what I will do when it's time to buy again if the Ranger is gone. I don't think Ford will push anyone into their full size trucks by taking away the Ranger.

Rangers are currently still in production. Several people from Twin cities were up at my plant to help work on Explorers over Christmas shutdown and we were discussing the differences between the 2010's and 2011's.

That may be true but the talk has been that the 2011 model was the last?

The 2010's weren't available with L/S, the 2011 is. My truck will have L/S... did they throw a 2010 back on the line and swap out the axle? I think not.

Anyone else think it would be a good idea to put up a poll on here with all the options of what people would have bought if a Ranger/B-series wasn't available?

Might be an effect message that without the small truck they would have lost X thousands of customers to GM, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Suzuki????

I think they killed off the SVT lightning for the same reason, poor sales. And I doubt the price of the F150 will go up, just the sales will go up, if fleet owners can get a bigger more powerful truck that gets better mpg than a ranger for a good price, they will. PLUS the new Ranger is almost as big as a f150, like a f140. They only chance we will see the Ranger come back is when their is a good demand for compact trucks.
