My dad used to have two of those Commandos! 72's I believe. Both orange, with black soft top and white hard top. Used to call it the "Fyers-Mobile" haha. Only one was driveable, the others was always in pieces. Sucks he sold em both tho, they really were a couple of tanks! I remember taking a ride in it with the top down and it was so loud with the engine and the stereo and wind noise, not to mention the whole thing was basically bare metal even on the inside haha

Yea, we have 2 at the shop now, one is a 70 and the other is a 71, the manual has just TOO much power! 1st gear is like taking off in 2nd with a car these days and so torquey you don't even have to work the throttle, let out the clutch and it jumps across the parking lot ready to go! Lol, I'll post a pic of the one in one piece tomorrow

Boy if only the commandos were fuel injection, they'd REALLY be unstoppable! Lol

Lol I'll take your word for it never driven one. Have seen a couple older Willy's and they still ran through anything for being so old.

Oh yeah dude, the older the jeep the more torque they have. That's why I want something like that to teach my fiancÚ how to drive a manual, they're the easiest manuals to drive as far as working the clutch. You really don't even need to work the gas in em if you can work the clutch unless you're on one monster incline! Lol

Might try picking a jeep up as a DD. You seem to know your jeeps any recommended years? Going with a wrangler if I go jeep.

Well a coworker has a jeep that's over 20 years old. He says in inline 6s last forever but that's about what I know about jeeps

Nearly ANY wrangler built up to 95' will kick ass, even the 2.5 4cyl. Its all in the gearing with jeeps, but after 95' Chrysler took over jeep, and let's be real about it, Chrysler has NO freaking clue about true power! They just ruined the Jeep name in my book. But any Jeep 95' or older will last a lifetime and climb a mountain if you know how to drive it, and even if you don't you'll probly STILL pull out of your pickle situation. Lol
