I bought a new B4000 4x4 in April this year and I had a list of 4 things I wanted add/change on it
Tint the windows
LineX beadliner
ScanGauge II
Rust proofing

I did them all right away when I bought the truck...and then I came on here... the rest is history. This site is awesome, encouraged changes and gave me great ideas... I've made 14 other changes to my truck since
Rain-X latitude wipers
Stebel Natilus air horn
trailer hitch receiver cover
Rubbermaid black floor mats
Remove factory mud flaps
Pre 2004 Ranger 3rd brake light with cargo lights
02 Mustang GT Dome light with map lights
Fog light mod
air box mod
Mercury Mountaineer overhead console
Explorer visors with lighted mirrors
Hose clamp tailgate
Winter rims 99 Ranger 16x7 alloy duplicolor graphite
245/75-16 Blizzak DMV-1 winter tires

and after almost 20 changes to my truck my to do list now has another 35 plus changes... anyway enough typing gotta go find more things for my list

I second the Rain-X latitude wiper blades.

A rear hitch is nice. Just in case...

06 tail lights are a much more pleasing design.

As for the window vent visors I went with the "offroad" version of them. They're much taller, so your blind spots are increased a little, but they allow you to roll the window down further than the "in channel" type do. Plus with the in channel variety, I went through two sets of them on my 89 Ranger. They kept coming loose and falling off of both sides. I'll never get another set of "in channel" variety. These stick on the outside of the door. They block more light and let you roll the window down a lot more for ventilation too.

I left the factory mudflaps on. I don't like rocks chips in my purdy black paint. lol

Then of course a winch bumper is the MOST handy thing for me. But the extra fog lights to avoid deer and other animals have REALLY paid off!!

The two best things to put in a Ford Ranger are:

1. Enough gas to take you on a nice road trip.
2. An airport parking receipt for 10 days while you're on a cruise to the islands.

If you think you'll look back with fond memories of a set of tires you bought you might consider pulling your head out of your chrome plated racing tailpipe.

My must haves are:

a/c + electric windows (Ok those two are harder to get when used)
tinted windows
remote starter with alarm
beefier more aggressive tires for all seasons driving
tailgate lock + tailgate handle lock (no one's stealing mine)
hitch
cd player
bed liner (of course lol)

the rest is optional icing on the cake imo

Those plastic bedliners are bad news. I've heard of them trapping water and causing rust, but whos to say that it wasnt rusted for some other reason, and the bedliner was just a coincidence?

Anyway m Linex liner does not scratch easily at all. I've only managed to bust it once, and that was tossing railroad ties in it and pulling them in and out while landscaping my girls parents new house.

Even then, I took it and had it fixed in a few seconds for nothing a week later.

The plastic ones would not have held up to those huge chunks of wood. MY grandfather has one in his F100 Ranger, and weve cut and busted that thing to kingdom come with just tools and lawnmower parts.

I think most will agree the spray one is a better bang for the buck, Lifetime warrenty

I asked a friend who has a body shop garage, he told me that's a myth.

There are holes in the bed that evacuate the liquids, if there is any left, it should all naturally go to the back of the truck when you move forwards. Part of the problem could be that ford doesn't level their trucks (awfully retarded, right?) and stuff could get stuck in the bed if the holes are plugged, the front suspension lowers, or just overall bad maintenance, like those 5 year old cars that are covered with rust, anything is possible.

As for being more resistant, i wouldn't try sliding appliances on that plastic paint. Besides, i would never cause extensive damage to my truck to apply that product, just not worth the little protection it provides.

I had a plastic bed liner in my B3000 that I drove for 16 years... very durable and nothing really wrong with it at all but now I've got a Line-X liner sprayed in my new truck it's better on all counts. It is much better looking appearance wise in my opinion, a bit more durable and scratch resistant, a bit less slippery when dry, a lot less slippery when wet and has a warranty for life.

+1 it might have happened to someone somewhere but it's way more urban legend than fact... I'd bet someone that scratched and damaged the bed first then threw in a liner and blamed it later for the damage the was always started. The liner will rub some gloss off the paint but it won't scratch it to bare metal and rust it out.

WRONG. My Ranger is worn down to bare steel in places. Quite large places I might add. Just from driving and it rubbing/vibrating around. I've barely ever hauled anything in it and it's worn down across the top of every rib in the bed pretty bad. Factory Ford liner.

After it sits for quite a while, when you take off, TONS of water comes out the back too, from underneath the liner. The bed drain holes have probably been clogged for years.
