Default can i safely paint these?

its those stupid caps that stick threw the front wheels thats preventing me from putting my center caps on. i just wanna know if i could just spray paint them flat black or would that be a bad idea and cause some sort of adverse effect? i just thought id ask before i go and start spraying. thanks in advance.

yes you can paint them.....clean them first.they probably have some grease on them.....they are dust covers for your wheel bearings

I am not sure why you have a clearance issue.....are the hub covers the original ones? that dust cover looks fine but is that original?

He bought new wheels...came with new center caps. OEM dust cap by the looks of it. Wheel manufacturer just didn't take the time to look into all things these wheels could be used on when designing the wheel caps.

----------

Now that I think about it Stephen, have you compared that caps you have on the rear to the 2 you have unmounted, maybe they are different sizes??? They actually made 2 for the front and 2 for the rear...unlikely for sure, but you never know.

pop the dust cover off, see if you have enough room to flatten it with a hammer, you can test the cap without the wheel on..

i had to do this with mine,
pic is without cap.. tried to find an alternate dust cover, there are different variations, but no one list the diameter of the cap, so it was "buy it n try it"

the guy at the tire shop said something about smashing the cap with a hammer. its just that hitting parts with hammers just doesnt sound like that good of an idea to me.

lol, it is thin and easily flattened.. as long as it's not touching the spindle (inside) you're ok and no holes in it of course..
