What is your weekend project for your Ranger???
What is your weekend project for your Ranger this weekend?
I'll start....
Mine is to take off both door panels and speakers, and put some foam weatherstripping around the edges of my speakers and put them back on. I should have done this when I installed them. Also working on a small mod for my radio bezel, but nothing to brag about.
I also am going to put another coat of paint on my exhaust pipe. Along with washing the Ranger and taking a few pics.
I'll be glad when time changes back so I have more daylight after work.

Yea, a vibration. I did the bang test and its coming where the speaker is. Im 99.999% sure its just the door panel...but Im going to put the weatherstripping in just in case to cover all basis. I installed it in a dim lit garage b/c of the cold weather...so I need to double check everything. I need to get some dynamat, but that stuff is expensive.
And as far as the radio bezel...my kit sags a tad at the top and its pissing me off, so I'm going to try to create a new pocket out of some plastic and things...either that or paint a metal pin and squeeze it inside the pocket. So either way it goes...there will be lots of black silicone, hot glue, and other stuff involved. LOL

Re: What is your weekend project for your Ranger???
hmm, i did not know that the bezel kits sagging was a common issue, hopefully you will be able to rig something up to make it look better... or you could always close off the pocket and turn it into a switch panel, then your set if you ever decide to add any lights or anything
I hear ya about working in poorly lit cold conditions, oh how it would be nice to have a large heated shop.... some day
as for me, i don't have any plans for my truck this weekend

But then again...when I start trying to make something perfect, I usually wind up effing it up even more.
And yea, buggman gave me that idea. I might just take a blow torch and some silicone and see how bad I can tear it up. ;-)

Do you have manual windows? If so it may be the crank knobs rattling..

You know, come to think about it...I grabbed it and it stopped. So you may be right. How do I fix this?

I had this problem when i put my alpine speakers in. Take the cover off and wedge something small in there to put tension on the part that spins. I put a plastic washer in, and it did the trick.

Ill try that. After a quick google search, seems people are using small black hair bands to reduce the rattle. May try that also.

Wedge something small in there...and put a washer in? Where exactly in the knob assembly are you talking about?

I would love one of those, but I would seriously mess mine up trying to install it.

Re: What is your weekend project for your Ranger???
I'm hoping to pull the new tie rods off that were installed last week so that we can install a new steering rack since we found out that is shot as well.
