well i dont have to anymore living in Fl, but comming from up north i would use sand instead of salt in the fear of the salt getting under the bed liner and rusting.

when it snows, i throw the snow that i am shoveling around the truck in the bed, when the roads clear up, i just shovel it back out, that way i am not driving around with 300 lbs of weight, bringing down my mpg, and taking it out to use the bed

I have five 50lb bags of Sand, that way if I get stuck I can cut a bag open and throw it on the ice. I haven't had to do that as of yet, but I don't think I would use salt for fear of rust like the previous poster stated.
