Re: Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas every one. I bought myself a bunch of beer and some liquor..food for the cat and the birds (birds outside)...TCM has Ben Hur on at 1pm...25 minutes from now...the ultimate Hollywood movie of those times (1959). I'm an Atheist..but still this is an awesome movie. Many of you are Christians of one form or another...that's fine...Ben Hur should have even more feeling for you. After it..there is a short film of something...only 15 minutes I think at the most...then The King of Kings..another epic from the early 60's..this time I think focusing on what is known of Jesus Christ's life. But Ben Hur is an awesome spectacle....Hollywood,Panavision,no PC animation then..no PC's in any home!!1959...few movies can make you feel the pain and hurt of those on screen...Ben Hur does...thanks to its magnificance..a huge epic. Another on a far lower budget...is Mad Max....the sequels as usual don't hold up as well. I saw Mad Max in a theater..late 70's....towards the end when his wife is killed(she actually is salvageable they tell Max,..but will be a vegetable)..and their baby Sprawn(?) dies in the same incident..the incident caused by the f***ed up bikers led by Toecutter....you feel the pain of Max's suffering....you want to go out and kill those sick deranged F***s that did this to him and his family. Hardly a Christmas movie that would seem to be right? Well if the life and death of Jesus Christ is true..he suffered far more than Max. So for now watch the glory of Ben Hur.
