Default Impressive Battery

So I thought this was something that'd be interesting to share with the Forum because I honestly can't believe it. I bought my truck a year ago from my step-grandfather and he was the only owner. When I first went through my truck I noticed that it was extremely clean and he handed me every single service record. I noticed that the battery had never been changed. It is the original Motorcraft battery that came with the truck!!! The truck is coming up on 11 years now and it still turns over every time, crazy. (knock on wood) Has anyone else ever gone this long with one battery because I have never heard of such a thing.

With proper care and storage, with a good alt. theres no reason a battery shouldn't last that long

mine lasted 10 yrs in Florida, usually extreme weather changes is the killer of aged batteries.

my current ranger's battery lasted from Nov. 2000 -Nov 2007. I only replaced it because it was getting slightly harder to turn the engine over and with winter coming, didn't want a dead battery on a desolate, frozen highway.

The battery on my old truck (1999 Nissan Frontier) is still in the truck. My gpa owned it before I got it as well. I sold it to a buddy of mine and he says it's still there.

I bought a Focus ZX3 new in April of 2001. Sold it in March of 2008 with the OEM Motorcraft still going strong. I traded it in for a 2004 Mazda6 GT and that battery only lasted until the fall of 08. This was also A Motorcraft battery. I guess its luck of the draw.
