i have an 04 edge ranger, 4x2 and the max towing capacity with a class three hitch the truck is only as good as the hitch!! is 2400 lbs (6000 total!)
so id say 2500 is on the edge and 2000 is perfect

The capacity might be on the build sticker on the driver's door jamb. It will definitely be in the owner's manual. Just find the listing that matches the equipment and options for your particular truck.

Thanks fr the info folks, my 1998 ranger door sticker does not have it, I can't find an owners manual on line, I'm thinking that a tow hitch shop might know. Mine is a basic 4 cyl- 5 speed regular cab. good old truck.
