Hey guys, I need some help from you to help me pick what I want for Christmas.

Here are some of my ideas and read my Sig. for what I already have
P.S.-Price range 300 or less

-Touchscreen head unit
-Underbody getting sprayed/ rustproofed
-Herculiner
-Performance Chip
-Remote Start / Viper Alarm
-Radar Detector

Im not sure if chips even work so please give me any info you have if there worthless or not, and any other suggestions are welcome!

Thanks Guys Happy Holidays!

I would get the chip/tuner. The others just arnt worth it IMO and herculiner can be done cheap so it should be done regardless

I have a jet chip if it wasn't for the fact that I got it on ebay for $50 I wouldn't have gotten it. I see little improvment. It is NOT worth the $300 something dollars they want for them things new.

Now a programmer or tuner, I don't know, I don't have one those, it might be worth the money if you can change settings.

As a fellow Michigander, Get the undercoat. They salt the shit out of the roads. While thats being done, have it put on the rocker panels to that first body line.

Thats not a bad idea man, i've heard that chips dont really work and to see true improvent with tuners you have to upgrade on your octane.

Know how much it is to get your underbody sprayed? I totally think its a good idea especially in Michigan.

I see you added a radar detector. Dont waste your money on one of those they are useless. If you want something that beeps most of the time for no reason or alerts you when you are being pulled over go for it lol

I say that I have seen little improvement, I should change that statement. In my lifted ranger I saw a decent improvement, But I have motor work, headers a nice UN-Restricted exhaust, a Free-Flow intake. With those mods I think it helps to have the "piggy back" chip.

Right now, I have the chip in my '96 plow truck, I see little on that thing as it is all stock.

See that's the thing, i was just gonna post a thread about them because i started doing research and stuff and it just didn't seem worth it to take the risk of a mid range one 200+$$ and get scammed. Just seems easier to set the cruise.

Thanks!

Oh, I see what you mean, yeah it might be a better idea to wait on it then, maybe if I had more mods than a Dual Exhaust and a CAI (if that even counts ha).

I think the detectors are best used in the speed zone changes, Driving on a main road coming into a town and speed goes from 55 to 35 just like that. Then they are useful. But for people who buy them because they like to "speed" or whatever, I don't think there all that.

Yes it is!

Those things are a false sense of security, chances are if you get one it will end up costing you twice the money cuz you will have paid for it and then get pulled over cuz you thought you were invisible lol

in mustangs esp the 2005+ where you HAVE to tune nearly everything..cold air kits ect.. with a hand held tuner there are amazing improvements. Those Ive seen try chips theyre not worth the money spent. I have a SCT X cal 2 left over from my mustang that im considering using on this truck..... if i can even find someone to program it. But those can cost anywhere from $200 used to $600 new pending on which one you want. I gave about $300 for mine in 06.

DDMtuning.com yes they are basically plug and play and are very easy to install. If you can change the bulbs in your truck you can install them. Mine are 6000k I wouldn't recommend doing anything above 8000k but that's just me. Anything higher than that and you start sacrificing brightness for color.

I gotta chime in on the radar detector. I spent the money on a V1 and freaking LOVE it. It saved me at least 3 tickets my last trip to chicago in my S4. You just have to be smart about where you are and what is possible. For instance for most radar uses, you'll be doing great, but if they are using a laser, and it beeps and you are speeding...just pull over. stay smart and with a good radar detector you can save a few.

or you can go all out and get a V1, with a laser jammer (yes its legal)..but thats about double your price range

considering where you live... and the vehicles from up north that have made their way down here..i would go with the undercoating! Or a good radar detector..
