Re: Take her with me
I say store both.....they have very adaquite transportation over there and no since in taking risks in havin a vehicle shipped there and to consider everything there is right hand drive...i would store both here and in five yrs they will actually be worth a lil more than taching the mileage up on them.

Re: Take her with me
It would kill me be without my truck for that long but I think it would be best to store it. It would be cool having it there but I think it would also be a hassle getting it there and it would be one more thing to worry about while your there.

Re: Take her with me
The company I work for will ship it I just need to pick it up at the port. I was stationed there while in the Military and loved it. you can pick up a good car/van for around $3000 and they have what’s called JCI insurance you have to pay every 2 years. covers the car mechanical parts (if you wreck because of a failure the insurance covers it). Driving there is not a big problem except for the right hand drive world with a left hand truck would be hard to adapt.
I will be there for 5 yrs probably and I don’t want to sell my wife’s car/my truck just bought them. decisions, decisions, decisions!!!

Re: Take her with me
i'd take the truck if your company will ship it for free, like craig said it would be good to have to haul stuff around. whats the worst that happens, the car will sit in a garage stateside and the truck will sit where ever you land in japan while you take the bus. and you'll adapt to driving near the shoulder of the road, if mail carriers can do it than so can you!

Re: Take her with me
ive never been to japan but my main concern would be repairs etc for your truck, oil changes, filters, parts, if the gas is leaded...to be honest that may do more harm then good for the truck...if nothing else your parts will be harder to come by at least. I say no matter what I personally would not bring the truck for that long i mean a year or so...ehh maybe just for the fun of it but 5 years thats a lot of wear and tear and possible things to go wrong you know?

Re: Take her with me
Having such late model Ranger and Focus..you are probably a much valued customer at the Ford dealer you got them from. Have you told them about this? Maybe they can suggest what to do. Maybe trade both in (here) for a new Jpn Kuga (there).
