Well my ranger decided it was time for it to pass away today.
I was on my way home from school and as I turned onto the road that I live on,I noticed that the temperature go from "N" on the normal written on the temperature gauge to "R".I knew something was up but didn't think nothing of it.I thought it was just the thermostat opening and closing.I carry one of my buddys home with me so I dropped him off at his house and backed out of the driveway and everything was still fine.I got to the stop sign and got under accleration to go up a steep hill and she decided it was her time to go.The temp shot all the way to "L" from "R" on normal and started pouring steam and knocking super hard.My grandparents live at the top of the hill so I got to the top of the hill and got in the driveway and shut her off.I'm gonnna pull it to the shop at the farm and get it on the lift to see what it is.
Wish me luck because I hope its only a hose or something cosemetic and hopefully I didn't run it hot.
I felt so bad after it happened and I still do.

I wish ya luck man, how many miles on it? i'm assuming it's a v6.

Shes a 4.0 with the auto tranny.
Just rolled over 201,000 today on the way home.

Well I've got bad news guys,its either the heads or the head gasket or both.
My uncle came over to the farm which hes a certifiied ford mechanic and we put a new lower radiator hose on it which was busted.Got that fixed and got anti-freeze and water back in it and the temp was still goin crazy.Come to find out it had a air pocket in it,so we finally worked that out and we and run it up and down the highway.
The temp got all the way to the "H" which is right before the red.My uncle just threw it in neutral and shut it down and let it coast.He turned it back on and it had passed it so he switched it back on and we went back home.We got back to the house and worked some more at it,he finallly said that was what it was.What kept happening was that as we'd pour the water and anti-freeze in it,it would suck it down and fill up the puke box with it and puke it all back out or it would simpliy just blow it back out the radiator after we'd take the pressure off the cap we'd loosen it up to see and it'd do that.So she'll be getting her top end done so no more ranger for me for a while :'(

That sucks man, sorry to hear that!

I reckon since the truck will be in the shop for a month or 2 I'll just go ahead and get my OHC that ya sold me in and get my lift on and get the motor apart,fixed,and back together.

Sorry. Ask your uncle if replacing the motor with a re-manufactured one (with warranty) might be a better idea since anti-freeze/water may have got mixed into the oil possibly doing/leading to damage elsewhere. I guess if he is a good mechanic he should know what's best though.
