I heard the 2011 will be the last because Ford doesn't want to retool and redesign for the new regulations in 2012/13. I'm glad I got mine and it has been a really good vehicle so far. I plan to keep it for a very long time!

Future mods: roof rack to carry a kayak or two
not sure about others - maybe some exhaust mods that won't mess with Cali emissions.

If they built and offered rangers for instance with the crew cab, a 4.5L Powerstroke matted to a 6spd manual trans, they thing would never fail, it would go 500k miles! they would be out of business.

Why dont ford or any auto maker put on factory undercoat on vehicles going to states that use salt? why not all autos for that matter? They depend on failure of their products to keep the flow moving. Its just business. You wouldn't work yourself out of a job would you? I sure wouldn't!
Nobody can build something that will definitely last 500k miles. Look at how much better cars are now than they were just a couple decades ago dependibility wise even though they are now much more complex. Also, the reason that they don't do a lot of things that SOME people would want is, as richardhoward stated, regulations and cost. Diesels are great but they can be a pain with their emissions and they just don't sell in the US. Blame other Americans for hating diesels, not Ford. Undercoating some cars is too expensive and you could cut down on the cost by undercoating every car, but most people would care less. They would look at the price tag to see the Ranger more expensive than the other options and discount the minor differences.

I'd pay for undercoating, it is worth it, but it is really expensive. American's hate diesels because of the original ones that were found roaming our streets, they were noisy, stinky and well SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW WWWWWWWWWW!!!! Today's diesels are a whole new animal.

I agree. I will be giving my ranger an undercoating and think one from the factory would be great, but most people probably could care less. And yes, the diesels today are pretty awesome but they still have the negative connotation.

Yes, and as it states "The new Ranger will be sold in 180 markets around the world, but not in ours."

I LOVE my Ranger dont get me wrong... Granted I say the things a BITCH on gas but its got 33's and a little lift so I keep it to myself because again its a truck. Space wise its awesome for me and a passanger but like most people (hopefully) I have more than one friend. I also wish it had a V8 stock. Not so concered about the SYNC and Nav and all that B.S. Somthing like this... but a V8... Id be happy
