Default I'm in a predicament about getting a different vehicle!

Alright heres the deal. Dont get me wrong my ranger has always lived up to my standards, and I love it to death. However I have been looking for more of a fullsize truck to tow more with. Even though i do very little towing, but when i do my clutch doesnt like it one bit. Also the stickshift gets annoying sometimes because i cant multitask. But anyway my buddy is selling his 1999 GMC Yukon 4x4 5.7 V8. It has lower miles and not a spot of rust for being a nebraska truck. He will sell it to me for $3000 next spring (for those that dont know, the things worth about $5000). Its got newer tires, new brakes, new suspension, rebuilt hubs, the 4x4 works perfect, leather, and all the options you can think of. I should be able to get about $2000 for my ranger and i can scrape up the other $1000 for the yukon. Heres my predicament, im really gonna miss the bed space of my ranger, and im gonna miss the hell out of it. But i will like being able to haul more people, and yeah the power of the big 5.7. I really dont wanna pass up a deal this good. So should i keep my truck, or get the yukon?

Heres some pictures of it too.

What do you guys think?

That is not a truck its an SUV. Keep the ranger. You will regret not having the bed and the MPG if you ask me. Maybe you don't use the bed but this seems like an impulse buy. I would strongly consider looking for something else if you really need to upgrade.

*just saw that you said you will miss the bed, guess that answers my question. Get a full size truck before you go and get this. Also Remember the more options a vehicle has the more shit that breaks.

I don't think I could give up my bed space....as much as I want a v8 it would be hard to give up my truck

yeah def hang onto the ranger. Like they said gas is just getting higher and higher..and huge motor like that you would regret eventually. You said you rarely tow anything..so i would look for something cheap to buy to use for towing personally. Or maybe look into a truck instead of the suv.. at least then you would still have bed space.

I'm not gonna bash on the chebbie, because they are actually good vehicles. They have a lot of interior space, will tow heavy loads and are quite reliable. But they are aerodynamic bricks. He's gonna sell it so cheap because it is NOT worth 5K. ....and again, I'm not bashin it. I don't really care what NADA says on it. Trust me, the economy is not about to get better yet. We got about three more years of this......horribleness to deal with before an upturn. So that means the chebbie's value will only continue a downward spiral.....as will the Ranger's. The question becomes which would you rather afford gas for for the next 3-5 or so years? 10MPG loaded would be a high estimate, too. ....but they are nice vehicles. lol

Id say trade in the old ranger for another truck...i have always driven a truck but ive seen my dad with his tahoe constantly need me to haul something for him because he doenst have the bed space or want to get his suv dirty......youre better off buying an old truck and reworking it to get better mpg

----------

and i am also a bed space HOG i use it literally EVERYDAY and i love that i dont have to open a door to get to stuff in the back lol

let us know what you choose!!

I have an expedition and 2 rangers. I have basically lost my bed space with my toolbox and custom lid I made. If I was in your situation I would look for an SUV. Not the yukon tho. My expedition gets a solid 15 mpg driven easy and 65 on hwy. As far as bed space, get a trailer. I have a 6x10 that I built and use the hell out of it, even with my ranger.

Their great trucks my dad has one, bought it new and it currently has 180 thousand miles on it, things to check, if it has had intake gaskets replaced, radiator replaced, and has the transmission been rebuilt. These are common problems on these model year trucks and have all went wrong on my dads truck.
