Default What is this?

Can anyone tell me what that black tin can does or contains? The white arrows are pointing to it. It looks like it has two wires coming out of it. Please let me know! By the way it a 302 from a f150.

No No Flux Capacitor... Thats it... When you notice it you should check your muffler bearings also.... Those tend to go bad

I'm pretty sure its a smog canister. Have a couple on my jeep.

IIRC, It's a vacuum reservoir. It does pretty much nothing for the engine at all at this age. Usually they like to rust at the mounts.

yeah thanks guys. if it were vacume though it would have hoses but all i see are electrical wires. Anyways i might upgrade to f150 so i want to know before i look at one. And yes it is stock!

If you look at your pic, the little red hose that leads into it is a vacuum hose.

Yeah - there's typically a one-way valve on the connection closest to the vacuum source (engine)... Vacuum accumulators even-out weak or highly variable vacuum signals (common use includes cruise controls and HVAC air doors).
