Adding weight for winter
I threw in about 280 pounds of sand n stuff in the back of my truck today (XL 2WD) and i noticed a decent difference in the way it handled in the crappy weather.
how much weight are you guys running for the winter? I feel like more can help. And what do you guys use to keep the weight in place? I'm trying to come up with some compartment so i dont have to hassle with my ladder in there too.
Thanks!

480 of blocks. Alot of guys dont like this idea as in a crash they can become projectils, however I have a toolbox and built a shelf-like cover for them and have a locked down tono cover. so I feel safe, but it helps alot, even with 4wd

I think you are fine with the weight you have.

Re: Adding weight for winter
I've got 300 lbs of sand tubes in my bed right now. I think its a bit much, so I might take one 60lb tube out. The ass end seems to be sagging a bit much for my taste. I do drive a base model 4cyl though so I can't handle too much weight anyway.

300 pounds of sand bags. In future years, I will likely look at getting a Bed Rock traction assist system or a ShurTrax system.

Shurtrax is really good as long as you dont poke a hole in it. takes about 3 days to freeze solid but takes about a week of temps in the 30's to thaw out.

Re: Adding weight for winter
I put three (3) 20"x30" patio stones in the back and they fit perfectly flat from front to back. They don't slide around. I think they are 100 lbs. each.
