Couldn't agree more, unfortunately I really didn't have any other option. I don't have tow hooks in front. There was no way to get it wrapped around the hitch, and I would've literally had to hold my breath and swim to loop it around an axle. I wasn't too stuck so we knew it wouldn't take much to get it out, but it was all we had.

I've got rear ended twice.

First time was a Lexas and totally messed up her front end. Got a check from her insurance for 200 dollars to replace scratched bumper pad. Didn't replace it though and pocketed the 200 bucks.

Second time was Chevy Malibu. Put small dent in bumper, scratched pad (this time to the point it was an eye sore. Also rolled the bottom lip of the tailgate, can't really tell it that much. Got a check for 825 dollars!. So what did I do? I went to pull a part and got a Mazda B-Series bumper (which I think looks nicer) for 35 bucks!, included pad and brackets. So I pretty much made 800 bucks. BTW mazda bumper is direct fit except where the pad wraps around the back fenders, just have to shave some of the bumper pad for clearance.

Glad to hear no damage to you and nearly no damage to your truck. Bumpers are easy to find and replace. Sucks that it happened, but it could've been worse.

I can feel your pain My 2009 already has $20,000 dollars worth of damage, but she is still rolling like new. The first time some guy in a red Honda cut me off on the highway going about 60 KMH in bad weather, my truck spun across three lanes and smashed head on into the concrete barrier. smashed both lights bent the bumper and knocked my front side panel back into my door so i couldn't open it. I was carrying 500 lbs of sand in the back for weight on the icy roads, the bags came forward and ripped my tool box and back rack off. Then the truck kept spinning and the back end hit the barrier, scratching the hole side of it and the sand bags flew back and ripped my tail gate off. took me 3 months to get it all fixed and the back rack and tool box are just now getting re-finished, second time my truck was parked outside of my house and some knucklehead driving a toca claims he sneezed and smashed into the back of my truck destroying my brand new tail lights that took me 3 months to get, the bastard got away scott free and i ended up paying 300 dollars for a rental car even though i have full coverage.

I said receiver hitch.. as in, hitch that goes into the receiver... ie: Not a bumper hitch.
