There are a few females on here.

the 2K dollar difference may be options one has over the other.

Check the standard options. The xlt with the 4.0 adds 1k auto trans sliding window things like that

Agreed, check for options. All the little options can and will add up.

In my area, a base XL is 17,935, XLT 19,075, and a sport is 22,380 before all the extra options.

dont get a 4x2, just get the 4x4. IMO, get a good low mileage used 4x4, you will be happier. I got my 4x4 when it was 1 1/2 years old and saved $10k than had I bought it brand new. It was a one owner truck with only 25k miles on it

Mine's had 3 owners, one being fleet, but it looks like a 1 owner truck. The maintenance record is 6 pages long full of regular oil/filter changes, tire rotations, chassis lubrications, undercoating, etc between all three owners. It's currently got 44,500 on it now. Never been smoked in either. Number of owners doesn't really matter, what does matter is how well the truck has been taken care of and the age of the truck.

^^^Main reason I bought a used Ford in the first place.

I've notived that 9 times out of 10 Ford owners take better care of and have more pride in their vehicles.

It's funny you said that, because that was the reasoning behind getting the Ranger. We had a Cavalier before the Ranger, and I was horrible at maintenance with it. I hated it, therefore I hated to take care of it. But I love the Ranger, so naturally I take way better care of it. She gets baths every single week, and I'm constantly checking the fluids to make sure everything is tip top.

Exactly my point lol. I mean the same can be said for other makes of vehicles, I've just found in the research I did before I bought my ranger by looking at carfax's and stuff that ford owners just like to take care of the vehicles. A lot of that mentality I have towards mine I got from one of my really good friends and his dad (old boss). They both have fords and take care of them like they were children lol. His dad takes care of everything he has because if you take care of it, it lasts longer. Why spend more money than you have to lol?

I agree with the whole taking care of it... My GF KNOWS that it goes the truck, the R6 and THEN her... Priorities... but like people have said look for a used 4x4... Alot of rangers Ive seen have been in awesome condition so it shouldnt be hard. The left over money could also be used for some mods
