Would You Buy A Real Compact Pickup Truck?
The Ford Ranger's ready to slip this mortal coil and it's because automakers think you don't want compact trucks. Really? Seriously? Come on. If you could buy a 35+ MPG two-seater small pickup for $15,000, would you buy one?
We just can't believe there's not a market for compact trucks in the United States. What with today's desires for fuel economy, style and utility we've got to believe there's an opportunity here in the United States for both an El Camino "Ute" type of vehicle and something even smaller — like GM's awesome, but sadly discarded

NA car companies cater to Americans. Americans are fat.
I wonder why the small pickup segment is disappearing in America? You don't see F150's in England.
(No offense to our more chubby members, since they obviously didn't buy into the crap and bought a Ranger despite their size)

Re: Would You Buy A Real Compact Pickup Truck?
I would simply because I don't need a fullsize, it's usually just me in the truck, and well I don't usually haul huge loads. I get a pretty consistent 18-20 mpg in my Ranger, and 25 on the freeway in my 4 cylinder GMC Sonoma. What more could I ask for? Bring on the Ute. I don't care if it's Ford or GM, just make it with a v8, a damn good stereo and a manual transmission, I'm sold. Oh and a bench seat...so I can shift the stick and plug a hole...

I think I qualify well beyond what qualifies as big. At 6'6" and at what is probably beyond a healthy weight. Im a big dog, and I fit in my ranger with plenty of room to spare. The F-150, or any fullsize truck these days are just way too big for most people's needs. Then again, this is America. Go big or go home. I personally think shit has got way out of hand. I understand needing a truck 9 foot high with some absurd towing and carrying capacity /IF/ you actually need it, but most people I see with these bigass f1/2/350s have never seen anything that resembles work. Ford killing the ranger is a big mistake, but what do we know? We are just lowly consumers.

Re: Would You Buy A Real Compact Pickup Truck?
I would honestly love the ole toyota with the 22RE engine...2 wheel drive....just for haulin crap...they last forever, good on gas
picked the ranger as I wanted a new truck, and I personally hate what toyota did to the looks of their "compact" pickups.....
