Default Four-door Ranger

FRFs:

Been doing some research here at the magazine I edit and caught this little tidbit in the December '97 issue:

"Ford continues with a third door on the F-150 series, but rumor has it that the Ranger will have a four-door option before 1998 is out."

Of all the rumors surrounding our favorite compact truck, this is the one I most wished had come true!

You were mistaken on the article. It was referring to the doors on a Supercab.

The Ranger does have the option to have four doors, but not the traditional crew cab doors like you were thinking. Select North American Supercabs have the two main front doors, as well as two suicide doors that open the opposite way and allow easier entry into the back jump seats.

Now, that only applies to North American Rangers. South American Rangers have the option for a crew cab, with 4 doors that all open the same way.

Actually, the writer never alludes to the SuperCab suicide door arrangement (which I have on my truck...see sig), so the rumor could've been about four conventional doors. I'm sure that was being whispered at some point in the Ranger's past for the domestic market, but obviously, it never came true.

Sorry for the confusing post...I should've been more clear. A real, four-door Ranger, like the international markets had, was what I always wanted...
