Default Light up sills

Has anyone ever tried to make their door sills where is says ranger light up? I'm thinking about trying it out, but I'm gonna find some ones from a junk yard and test it on those first. Any ideas or suggestions?

Sounds like a job for buggman!. Maybe he could rig up some LED's or something for you. I just did the dome light mod and that would be cool if you wired it into that so it only came on when you opened the door or turned on the light. Definitely worth experimenting with if you got the extra sills.

Only thing with the sill plates, they sit pretty flat, and getting the smallest led's in there will be hard and you have to think about the break factor from your feet getting in and out. On top of that, they clip in, but not so tight where it allows moisture underneath those sill plates which wouldnt be good for the wiring

Yes, exactly like those. And I have seen it done of a few vehicles before, but never a ranger.

This is a future project of mine- I need to finish the exterior lights first however.

I know what you mean, but the acutal lettering is raised up, and I have a vision of them lighting up, not just white, but any color really. I'll probaby just have to buy a set off you and test out my theory and maybe get buggman involved if he is not too busy with all those 3rdBL's lol.

Did you have any ideas on how you were going to accomplish this?

Yeah, but if I told you guys I wouldn't be the first right?

I've got too many LED on the Ranger "firsts" to blow this one.

Fair point... I guess it'll be a race, or better yet a duel.

I sir, challange you to a duel! (slaps across the face with a leather glove). haha

I can't wait to see what happens, I'm super excited to see if anyone can get it done. I've only seen it on a few vehicles so far, but they are special edition cars. The Nissan 370z Nismo edition has them i believe. but i'm also trying to decide on a secondary color to go with my truck, white would be too simple, i was thinkin either red, orange, or green. any suggestions?

Anyone that has a nice set of sills for a 2 door PM me if you want to sell them.

My plan is to wire them in with the transistor circuit I used on my puddle lights so they turn on only when that specific side door is opened. This is just like my under-door LED puddle lights work. Since I've already wired in the circuit for the puddle lights all I need to do for these is run power and ground and build the LEDs into them.
