It sure beats the 14 mpg I got on my F-150

The EPA fuel economy numbers are 19/24. Don't believe the exaggerated claims.

I am not saying your claim of 21 is bogus.....it is quite realistic. I have an 08 with the same engine/tranny combo and I get 22.5 mpg overall including 75% around town and 25% highway.
In my earlier days I owned a 2000 4.0/5 spd auto supercab and I got 17 overall and I can't for the life of me figure out the claims of 22+ mpg and some even claim that with a 4x4 too>
Don't worry about what other owners "claim" they get and you'll be happier........these are the same guys that claim a 70 Hemi Cuda gets 18 mpg while punching out 600 hp and 600 ft/lbs of torque.
My wife drives a 2009 Ford Focus 2.0/auto and she gets 28-30 mpg and on the other Ranger forums some even claim their Rangers get 30-36 mpg.
It's not that I am a cynic.....I am just old enough to know better.

I got ya! Sorry I read into your post the wrong way.
Thanks for clearing that up.

I have been watching another Ranger on Fuelly identical to mine except it is a 5 spd manual and he is posting 30+ mpg even while pulling a boat!

Pulling a boat and getting 30 mpg is eye opening..........and don't tell me the boat was a 35 footer too.
No one means any harm!

I average about 22mpgs with city driving....
But I have bigger wheels and tires

Back when I had the factory wheels and tires, I averaged about 25 in town and 30 on the highway

I've had better than 22 sometimes but I've got a lead foot.....
