Agreed! That's why I chose a Ranger over an F-150 It's the right size for what I want and need. I can still walk past my Ranger in my short garage with the door closed. The extra ~10" of an F-150 would prevent that.

"Which is fine, although you can see how your 2nd statement contradicts this right? "

It is in relation to....
A "big" truck is larger than a smaller truck in a statement
because that is a "general" comparison.
Under such conditions a BIG truck could be an 18 wheeler
while a small truck could be a F350 or anything less than
an 18 wheeler.

The comparison that was inferred was that a F150 was
BIGGER than a Ranger, and that statement is TRUE!

Likewise a F150, if called a "normal" sized truck is
still BIGGER than a Ranger.

Size IS relative to what you are talking about, PERIOD!

So a F150 is a BIG truck!
You just have to figure out what one is comparing it to?
Well what is the main subject of this whole website?

And on the subject of GVWR… My door label states GVWR: 5,120 lbs.
I just made a short trip to the dump and the Tare (weight of the vehicle after unloading) was 2.12 T or 4,240 lbs. (with me and a nearly full tank of gas).

Its just easy to say that the OP and a lot of people on here that do have Rangers and have been driving a ranger most of their life, have a tough time transition to an F150, thus making it in their opinion to big.

The Ford F150 is a big truck compared to a stock Silverado, or Dodge, they sit up higher, and generally tend to have more room, at least in my opinion. If a ranger suits you good, then that is fine. I liked my Ranger, but upgrading to an F150 defiantly has an advantage, it like my old Expedition I had, has loads of room, and the power of the Triton V8 is unmatched by the Ranger, HOWEVER, my ranger was defiantly quicker low end, top end the Triton can defiantly be felt, because unlike the 6 cylinder ranger which winds out quicker, the V8 just keeps on giving more.

I will say the F150 can handle a trailer better, and the over-all ride quality from my old ranger to the F150 is much improved, less noise from paneling popping. They each have their ups and downs. If you are use to a ranger, and its good for you, there is no reason to get an F150, and if you do swap over expect it to be a different experience.

yup...the F150, is a big truck...maybe not compared to an F650 or a Union Pacific locomotive but compared to other "1/2 ton" pickups it's a behemoth...heck its as big as a 10 year old F250

The F150 is toooooooooooooooooo darned tall to be useful in any way other than if you need to haul something massive ... It's truly useless as a work truck unless you are 6'2" or taller. How bad has Ford screwed up when they are marketing a " BUILT IN STEP LADDER " in the tail gate.

your all gonna be bias because you have rangers, i have both, i love both, i love the fact that i can carry up to 6 people in my f150, 3 is alot in a ranger, i can fit things in the box, ie my raptor, i can haul my 22 foot trailer. where are they too tall? i havnt been anywhere in my ranger that i couldnt get my f150, it rides way better with the coil-overs, loads of power, dont knock the f150 because you have a ranger, and or possibly never drove one, its just you being bias to the ranger being killed off because you have a ranger

^^I don't think people are being biased. I have had full size trucks. I currently have an expedition as well. Its just that people like having the ranger. An f-150 is not a replacement for the ranger. Full size trucks have their pros and cons, just like the ranger. Fact is most people who own a ranger do so because they want to, not because the were forced to. There is a very large market for the mid-sized trucks. I for one will not buy an F-150 just because the ranger is no longer being made, I will simply buy a used ranger. There are still rangers from the 80's running around so why can there not be 2010 rangers still running around in 2031...? Rangers will always be around, at least until 2040. Live long and have fun in your rangers!!!

I could not believe the price difference.

27k for the ranger, 28k for the f150.

No wonder ford is dropping the ranger, for another 1k you can have a full size.

I personally dont like the new f150 body design, and for another 5k or so you can get into a superduty with a diesel.

I think ford should have kept with the same design for both trucks, back in the '80's a ranger was just a smaller version of the f150, they both looked almost the same.

I would be intereseted in an f150 if it looked like a larger ranger.

I think they are making a mistake by dropping the ranger, they should have canned the sport trac and went with the crew cab ranger with the turbo diesel 3.0 matted to a 6 spd manual. Then they would have had a hot seller. IMHO
I don't about where you are from, but ford is offering a lot of incentives on the ranger that don't appear on sticker prices, lol, I got 6,000 dollar rebate that doesn't show up on my sticker or my insurance Appraisal lol plus I almost got another 2000 off in terms of negotiating, so a truck that should have me almost 28000 cost me just under 21000, plus I got it manual which the f150 doesn't have, and I don't trust new engines (the eco-boost and the new 5L) until they are tried and true lol. perhaps you should into if you really want a ranger.

the eco-boost is iffy but the 5.0 will be a great engine, but if you gonna get a f150 get the 6.2, go big or go home, when i bought my f150 i got the largest engine i could get, 5.4 and it gets 15 mpg and the ranger gets, from what ive seen 14-15 mpg with the 4.0.

main reason i dont even bother looking at full size trucks these days is that NO-ONE offers a manual in their half ton truck.. certain f-250's and ram 2500's can sometimes have a six speed manual in them but thats more power then i will ever need and i dont feel like having to feed power that im not going to end up using

and in my opinion most of the f-150s made after 2008 are ugly as hell

i would drive a raptor or harley davidson edition f-150 tho
