I was slowing down to make a left turn off the road and onto a side street and as I started to turn I was hit on my drivers side front fender area. The car that hit me was probably going about 50 close to 60mph. So when it happened I was very confused and probably said WTF about 10 times. The car was a newer BMW 3 series and what had happened was he wasn't paying attention so had the genius idea to try and pass me on left well I was making a left hand turn, needless to say his plan failed. The main impact hit my tire and messed up my truck to the point it was unable to move. The BMW made it 100 yards or so down the road and died in the middle of the two lanes. My truck ended up in opposite lane facing traffic so it was a fun situation. Right now I am kind of upset since the truck was my first vehicle I owned and worked through out high school to buy it so its my baby. Well right now I am wondering if it will get totaled or they will attempt to fix it. Sorry but I couldn't get a good picture and will head to the place it was towed and get some better pictures. It looks a lot better then it is in a picture since the main impact was at my wheel so all the front end is pretty much done.

other than the obvious ear broke off grill section? is it damaged any where else? "if/when" the time comes for u to replace it, I would like to buy it. looking for a damaged one (cheaper) I was going to cut off the ears that run under the head lights anyway..

hey man glad youre okay first off.
Secondly, my truck had very similar damage in an accident. My mom was driving my truck when a car turning left pulled out in front of her when she was going straight through an intersection. She was fine, and obviously it was not her fault and the other persons insurance paid for all the damage. All damage was in the left front just like yours. Sorry no pics, but it was very similar. My truck at the time had 125k and is a 98. so your 02 with 75k should hopefully be good! Ended up paying a little extra out of pocket to put a new billet grill on it instead of the stock grill too so it worked out. Hope you and your truck are okay!

Steep hill with black ice. It went sideways off the road. When the driver side tires caught the dirt and, it started to roll over. It was about 45deg over when it impacted the tree direct to the drivers door. Since it was halfway over, the roof hit first and caved in the rest of it from there. Steering wheel was pushed over to the center console. Dash folded up in half. Driver seat sheared off its mounts and crushed the center console. Roof collapsed down to the dash on the driver side. Lights and radios projectiled all over the place.

I ducked down, leaned over the passenger seat when I saw it coming or I'd be dead. The roof was pushing down on me but luckily not in me. Left arm was all cut up from the window that blew in. Left ankle has permanent damage from being twisted around the parking brake pedal. My shoe stayed there when the fire department took me out of the truck.

Not pleasant.

Glad to hear you came out of it good. Could have been bad without the quick thinking! Damn!

Surprised that no one mentioned that the BMW driver was probably texting or on their cell phone. The passing on the left was an automatic defensive move to try to avoid hitting the Ranger in the rear because they weren't able to realize that the truck was STOPPED.
If it was daddy's little girl (boy), then the odds go way up that they were doing everything except concentrating on their driving.
Regardless, that's one of the main causes of accidents today and the reason that motorcycles get run over at stop signs. JMHO.

Its always fun to cut up a car when no ones inside, oh ya you will probably enjoy this one when one of my friends drove past he stopped to see if I was ok. Then after I said I was fine he said "you should have rolled it would look more a lot more impressive when you sue for neck pain," at that moment he tried to hit me in the back of my head. After wards I almost pissed my self laughing aren't friends great.

Yeah. We had to literally take a the driver side apart piece by piece. It was great training. I found things that were in the cab in the strangest places. Sharp impacts throw things around quite violently.

Accidents suck...but when no one is hurt you can usually think...despite whatever vehicle damage(s)...that it could have been worse. Even when there is slight injury. Bad injuries or death though...you can't really console your thoughts thinking that. People that commute using freeways where there is bad winter weather or bad fog sometimes..most years you see on the news a pile-up...50-60..sometimes more involved. So a good driver being able to stop behind the 1st many piled-up..is still going to 'get it' because another many are about to hit from behind. I've never been there but many have. Sometimes it boils down to wrong place at the wrong time. Missing or being part of a tragedy can be pure circumstance in regards to timing. But that's life..not just for accidents. In the end everyone 'gets it'..ideally at the end of a long fulfilling life.

For anyone that might be waiting I finally got more pictures and found out it will be fixed. The total cost of the fix is just shy of 5 thousand and before anyone brings it up I know my truck need an alignment and new tires.

Thanks for the added pics anjidiot.....almost 5 thousand to fix....I hope that is done quickly and that you are satisfied with the result. Shipper mentioned the BMW driver possibly not paying attention due to a cell phone or text messaging. Might be so but banning such can go to far. The GPS navigation/driving direction gadgets can also require enough input to be banned from the point of view of those that wanted the hand held cell phone banned while driving. Here in Ontario some idiot in the government actually suggested banning manual transmissions since the driver couldn't keep both hands on the wheel all the time!!!...I'm not kidding. I've heard similar suggested about sound systems..driver distraction being the point. Well you could argue for all such things I suppose,...but why not ban kids from personal vehicles? as well? Surely there can be no worst distraction than driving with a few kids and at least one purposely yelling/screaming/etc.much of the time. How many have ever experienced that out there? Living in a free society has it's costs..otherwise you wouldn't be living in such a place. Who wants to live in a totally ruled Stalinist like country?...North Korea for example...lucky to have food there yet alone a vehicle.
