Default Why most people use older rangers ?

Hey I recently found a nice 2000 ranger with a blown motor that a buddy gave to me. I was wondering about swapping in a nice sb into it and building a nice street truck. My question is just about all the pics and videos you find all over are the older style rangers, why is that? Are the new ones not as good for drag racing ? Alot of weak links ? Any help would be appreciated Thanks

That really the only reason??? Are there any weak parts of the truck aside from the drive train thats getting pulled anyway to pay attention too ? Gonna be stock style suspension prob with coilovers in it. Street driven track raced index truck

I dont really know of flaws that keep people away from the newer ones

Price is what would keep me away

Give me 1500 dollars and I could go 5 miles in a circle around my house and have you at least 8 rangers nothing newer than a 98. Several in this area for sale

See in my case their is no price. The truck is completely free. Guy blew the motor in it and has no interest in fixing it. Was using it as a spare vehicle so thats why i was asking about using it. Figure the truck is free if there are no real issues with the newer years I would use it. I actually prefer the look of the newer trucks. Just wanted to make sure no one had a good reason aside from the money why no one was using the newer style ones.

Yeah I was thinking that, but in reality i am really only going to be using the lights, wipers, and things out of it. The rest of it will be just the gauges and electronics for the new set up. Figured on getting something like a painless kit or another brand of that for the wiring of the car. Figure whats going in it will be a sb 302 or 351 with some nitrous and a c-4 and a built rear. Maybe throw in the radio and possibly defroster just for driving reasons.

yeah, rangers are cheap and reliable and if im gonna buy a old beat-up clunker, then id want the simpliest car/truck out there cause then there would be less to go wrong and this would even save more $$
