Default goodbye ebrake

My ebrake cable has been loose as hell for about a month but a few days ago when i hit the brake regular brakes it would squeak really loud and go away, sometimes also squeaked when i let off the brake. Pulled the rear wheel off and drum cover off on the drivers side off and as soon as i pulled the cover a nice little surprise dropped out from the inside

ebrake cable snapped inside the drum housing and got wedged in when i hit the brakes each time.
will i replace it? um probably not lol

E-brake: if you don't use it, you lose it! If you want it to stay working use it every so often.

My driveway is pretty steep. I engage mine religiously when I am home. I have had nightmares of my truck rolling down the hill and landing on the neighbors dinning room table LOL.

Lol i replaced the self adjusting springs in both drums, both were trashed and snapped off but my ebrake still doesnt work haha guess it must have been like that for longer time. time to start playing around with stuff to see if it will work again

^yeah mine also snapped in that area. 3 years ago. havent gotten it fixed yet because 1) I dont know how to, 2) dont want to pay for a new cable, 3) dont want to pay a shop to install it, 4)one day when a tow truck guy was trying to get my truck unstuck from a driveway of black ice, i forgot to tell him that my ebrake doesnt work. He tried to do the 'poor man's locker' by slightly engaging the ebrake and since the ebrake was broken, he somehow ripped out a spring from somewhere around the kickpanel, a spring that was related to the ebrake release pedal. he just tossed the spring in the snow next to the driveway. I was stupid and didnt keep that spring. So now i have no idea what im supposed to do or tell a mechanic about replacing all this crap, no idea if they can just order one spring along with ordering the cable itself, and I dont have the know-how to identify what spring that is, or what it does, and even if i could, no idea if one spring can even be ordered by itself. so ive just let it be because it sounds like an incredibly confusing process to get it fixed

Well lmc has the cable for 20 bucks and a blow up of the whole ebrake system so you can try to figure out what spring it is..
