Default This is probably the best engineering of a replacement tailgate

I saw this at the local junkyard parking lot. This guy made a re-bar tailgate. He made two sleeves that bolt to the sides so he can just take the re-bar and slide it out if he needs to. I know this looks like some redneck engineering, but I do appreciate this kinda work.

Nah, that's not redneck. That is creative, resourceful, practical, and well made! Now, if that rebar was held together with bailing wire and attached to the truck with rust, that would be redneck

That would definitely cause some destruction. And if it gets wrecked, just take it to a scrap metal yard and cash in!
