Default Ranger Warranty Question

Hello everyone,

Please forgive me for foregoing the customary introduction thread but I have a rather immediate problem that requires a resolution.

I'm the owner of a 2008 Ford Ranger XL regular cab which I purchased in December of 2007. It's been a reliable vehicle up until about a week ago when the engine started showing slight hesitation when starting. Having recently moved from Florida to Michigan, the vehicle had never experienced prolonged cold weather so I assumed this was probably the issue (stupid, I know).

To make a long story short, yesterday my battery light came on late in the evening. I waited until morning and took it to Auto Zone to have it tested. They informed me that my battery was nearly dead and the alternator was bad. I couldn't get my vehicle started afterwards and it wouldn't stay running even after being jumped. I had it towed to the nearest Ford dealer where it sits until they look at it on Monday.

When it first started showing signs of trouble about a week ago it was around 35,800 miles. Today when it broke down I was at 36,400 (I have a 100 mile daily round trip to work). My basic warrant expires at 36,000.

I'm wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation and, if so, were you successful in getting Ford to honor your warranty?

Also, for those people wondering why I didn't take the vehicle in immediately when it started showing signs of a problem, I was actually under the impression that my warranty expired at 30,000 miles (and the issue didn't seem very serious at the time).

Anyway, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Some dealers may work with you on it.

You may just be able to say you were coming home on a trip, and did not know where the nearest ford dealer was. So you continued to get closer to home. You then stopped for gas and it would not start and would not stay running after you had it jumped.

Thanks for the response. As it turns out, I have an extended warranty good until 100,000 miles. Ford handled the repairs and the rental car fees.
