Coat it thick or it will peel off

Alright. Here is my idea. I do alot of beach bumming, camping, and kayaking. My 06' has carpet in it and I Know I'm going to ruin it with the sand and saltwater for sure. I was thinking of pulling my carpet and laying some of this product down? Let me know what you think.
