Sraight bed vs/ flareside
This may be a dumb question but which actually has more usable space? Obviously, flaresides are narrower but the wheel wells don't protrude as much.

the space between the wheel wells measures the same between both bed styles.

Re: Sraight bed vs/ flareside
yeah, the wheel tubs in the stepsides are smaller because the inner bed sides have been moved towards the middle. so hands down, the fleetside has more space.

Re: Sraight bed vs/ flareside
My son has straight I have stepside. The straight is easier to load stuff and carries more.
However I am working on design of some removeable side gates that will fold out above the side rail top almost the width of the mirrors. Just pop in the gates when needed, haul plywood, more capacity, etc. I'm considering having a friend weld a brace that would mount in the trailer hitch, and support an extra 2 feet making the bed 8' long. Its all just an idea, but I will be building something soon.
