Default Haynes Manual

For anyone interested in a Haynes Manual, JCWhitney has them on sale for 17.99. Not sure for how long. Now, the real question is, whats better Haynes or Chilton?

I'm partial to Haynes myself, and that's a good price! I think I paid about $25 for mine.

Best to go with the factory Ford service manual, though, if you can afford it. It's a good investment especially if you plan on keeping the vehicle for a good long while.

Thanks for the heads up but it doesn't fit my ranger.

From the link provided:

Haynes bought out Chilton as of 87ish. From then on they're Haynes, wether they say Chilton or Haynes. Chilton used to be made of whiter looking, denser paper is all I can remember. So the text and pictures looked a bit sharper.

O'reilly has Chilton Manuals on sale for 19.99 till the end of this month. I don't know about Hayes but I'm sure they are on sale too.

I've been partial to Haynes for years until my transmission had a bearing failure and the Haynes manual told me the repair was to difficult for a diy repair and offered no other information period. So I purchased the online alldata diy for 26 bucks for one year vehicle specific additional vehicle's are 16.00. Wish I had found it much sooner. I would rate it better than Chilton,Motor or Haynes combined. when it comes to trouble shooting, diagnostics, schematics or repair procedures.

So does Advance. We have Hayes Manuals. I personally like Chilton's better. It's more laid out.

I haven't seen the Chilton's but the Haynes does leave some to be desired. It gets the job done but I've seen better repair manuals.

I always got frustrated with either of them. I have a Ford Shop manul for my 1993 Tempo and it really puts those books to shame. They are trying to pack too much info into one book.

Can usually find them on ebay for pretty cheap.

But how in the hell are they going to cover 93-2000 Rangers in that little amount of pages?
