Default Check Your Truck

hey guys, I am just posting this to remind you guys to go out and check your guys oil, diff fluids, etc. I just had my pinion seal changed again but this time at a shop. This shop is known for good work and he has always treated me good, but tonight I checked it and it was a quart low.

If you run a quart low for like 5,000 miles you can destroy your bearings, luckily ive only put on a few hundred before I checked it. I am almost positive I asked if he topped it off and he said yeah, but maybe I heard him wrong or he just forgot or something. Im going to be calling him tomorrow bitching lol, but in all seriousness if I wouldn't have checked it and ruined my bearings, I would have wanted to kill someone. So just a simple reminder, check up on ya fluids sometime this week and your tire pressures. Might just save ya, thanks, Zach.

not sure what your asking, there is no pinion fluid, there is a pinion seal? and if it was leaking it would be leaking differential fluid. My rear differential fluid was a quart low from the shop. not cool.

how have you done all that to your truck and not know how to lol. its on the front side of your rear differential, where the driveshaft area bolts up to. you will see alittle bolt type thing that has a 3/8 square in the middle of it. just get your 3/8 rachet, stick the square head of the rachet in that hole and there you go. That is your fill hole when you add fluid and you just go until you reach that hole and it starts pouring out, the close it back up. you should be able to stick your finger in the hole alil bit and reach down and touch some fluid level if it has proper amount.

alil update, called the place today and he said he topped it off and asked if the seal was leaking. as far as I know it has not being leaking and I was under it yesterday and nothing on the drive. he asked how low it was, and when I replied with a quart, he said "damn." So yeah just reminder check your guys fluids and everything, its better than it costing you alot of money down the road.
