I have a 1998 Ranger Ext with a 3.0 V6. IT is a 4x4 and runs great. I have cleaned the MAS and replaced the air filter and the slight ping on up hill loads is gone. What type of gas mileage should I expect? I am getting high 17 to low 18 MPG. That seems low to me, but I have not owned the truck long. What are you all getting? Thanks!

I have a 01 4x4 supercab stepside with a 4.0L SOHC v-6
I just got back from a trip from AZ to MO approx 3200 miles round trip
and bought 159.24 gallons of fuel. so it works out at 20.09 MPG
and the truck was loaded with toolbox stuffed and a 5k watt generator and cooler in the bed. so I think that is pretty good. From what I heard the little ranger trucks do not get as good of milage as one would think.

What you're getting is pretty normal. It's all in how you drive and the conditions.

That's about dead on for a 3.0 4x4. Our fleet has quite a few Rangers with that configuration, 17.8 mpg is what they get to be exact. 3.0 4x2 Rangers are in the 18-19 and you might hit 20 if you drive downhill on the interstate all the time.

I wish i was getting that kind of mileage, I have the 4.0 and I average at 12-13 miles per gallon.
