Failure of the jack stand or failure on the person who placed them?

A couple things with this picture.

1) Fix the American Flag that's falling off the garage.

2) If the jackstand failed, what is the piece of a cement block for next to the wheel?

3) What on earth is that multi-colored contraption vehicle in the background?

blocks were for when I jacked the rear up...the jackstands were 3 ton ones. Had them underneath the vehicle and was jacking it up. Jack slipped off one of the ttb arms (driver side you can see. Passenger side jackstand held but driver side one snapped the cast peice that slides up and down..I got them from Harbor Frieght for cheap, but I didnt think that cheap.

There's a 50s 1 ton chevy and a 4Runner in the background on the hill

Harbor Freight's entire inventory is made in China. Extremely stupid to put your life in jeopardy to save a few bucks buying chink stuff made with child labor.

Remember when they had to recall all their fuses because they were catching on fire? How ironic.

well your first problem is you placed the jack stand incorrectly, you should have placed it under the shock, or under the radius arm. never put a stand under an ibeam, theyre angled and will never stay put.

My thoughts as well. I can't say anything for harbor freight jackstand quality, but two stands sharing MAYBE 2,000 lbs wouldn't make a single stand rated at 6,000lbs fail.

I can however comment on HF 3ton jack quality.....$60 for a tall jack that lasted me 5 years is damn good IMO. Can also comment on their cherry pickers and it's great quality.

It didn't fail under a static load. It failed when a falling truck smashed into it. They aren't designed for that kind of shock load.

That is what happens when we stop manufacturing tools in the US and bring them from China. Harbor Freight is not the only one selling stuff from China, so is Sears.
