Default ammo box in the cab for my tools! work in progress

So after going back and forth on buying a tool box for my bed i"ve decided against it because of the cost and what i really need it for. basically all i want is something to put some wrenches and sockets etc in for when im riding the quad

so i went to the surplus store and $10 later I have an ammo can

sure i could throw my tools in it and throw it in the back but i wanted to secure it.

im going to use 2 "L" brackets on the front and one on each side and "mount" it in the back of the cab. Basically it'll just hold it in place so i can take the box out and use my tools whenever i want.

I figure i'll paint the box/brackets to make it look cleaner and i'll probably line it with some 1/4" foam to cut back on the rattle

so basically i pulled the cargo net off and filled the holes with rivots lol. it works i don't wanna hear it...

heres what i'm working with

i'm gonna "mount" it dead center

I'll be using alittle bit longer brackets but you get where i'm going with this

so what does everyone think?

have the brackets tack welded on, then you still have a waterproof box

if no holes are drilled in it yet.

A little bigger ammo can would be cool to, with original markings

i'm not actually attaching the brackets to the box. the brackets will actually be attached to the floor so the box just kind of sits in them so it wont move until i get more time to figure something else out

i thought about a bigger one but again i need like a 14mm 8mm and a 17mm and room for spare sprockets chains levers etc haha. no need for anything too big

and this is oregon everyone has a gun lol. hell i have my glock in my drivers side door and i don't have a concealed.

ok buddy of mine is gonna weld the L brackets on tomorrow.(cost=half rack of pbr lol)

basically one on each side and then run bolts through the floor and then put wing nuts on to secure it. should be super easy to take in and out this way.

grabbed some flat black paint and im gonna do this on the front to match my seats

and yeah yeah yeah ignore the rf logo lol. im putting this "build" up on there too

That will work, I think welded on is the way to go, like I said then the box remains water tight.

Only in MO if you give off the 'drug dealer' vibe. Cruisin' in a ranger thankfully doesn't give that vibe around here. HOWEVER, if you have a caddy rollin' on twenties with spinners and blacked out windows, you might be a target. Just don't drive like you stole it! Oh, don't drive that way....

ok new plan-no bolting in anymore too much work lol. well not really just too much in the way under the cab to be running bolts through. soooooo

this was my originaly idea

now this!!! little more work but i'll gain space actually

actually have a friend that works at cartoys thats gonna help out a bit with some of the build basically at cost. basically build a platform with a recessed part the box will sit in. add some carpet and done deal!
i wont be using that plastic piece that was below the seat. i'll probably take the other seat out and have him build a box to fit in there while we're at it

and off topic but got my tow hooks bolted in today since it was too rainy to paint lol

ok so besides painting the box i'm done!

mad props to my friend at cartoys and his boss for opening up their shop/tools/and materials and letting me do this at cost

box+build=$45 not too shabby

ok pics!

two compartments under the enclosure for my first aid kit and space blanket. gotta be prepared people!

also theres enough space behind the box for me to mount my maglite! so i'll get pics of that later

plan for paint

box will be painted flat black then i'll mask of the desigh and do a clearcoat over everything for sort of a "ghost" effect

opinions/verdict right meow!

also the whole thing is bolted down using the original holes for the seat
