Re: rangers are no longer being made
That pic of the truck from Brazil has the front end of a Ford Fusion and the rear end of an F-150 but its better looking than the stupid Thailand truck thats floating around the internet.

Re: rangers are no longer being made
The main reason I bought a 2010 Ranger was the smaller size, smaller engine and decent mileage. I didn't want a big truck and the Ranger was the only smaller truck that I liked. Why do manufacturers continue to shove big automobiles to the consumer? I for one, am not interested. If anyone believes that gas will ever go back to $1.50/gal is simply dreaming. We will probably see gas prices hovering around $3.00/gal in the near future and a truck that gives 12 to 15 mpg's in the city is not my cup of tea. A 'Fiesta' is certainly not in my future, but neither is an F150. Ford should try a little bit harder to listen to their clients.

I can understand it needs an update, but this:

Re: rangers are no longer being made

To: All Ford Dealers
Subject: Debut of Global Ford Ranger
Earlier today, we confirmed plans to officially unveil an all-new Ford Ranger at the Australia International Motor Show in Sydney in October. The Ranger model to be unveiled in Sydney has been designed and developed to support key markets outside of North America; these are markets that currently do not have access to our F-Series pickups.
In case you receive customer questions, please remember that production of the North America Ranger will cease in 2011, when the Twin Cities plant will close, and the new Ranger to debut in Australia is not intended for our market.
For customers in the U.S., we’ll continue investing in and further growing our F-Series lineup with new powertrains and improved performance.
For the 2011 model year, the F-150 features four new truck engines and a new six-speed transmission that will deliver best-in-class towing and horsepower. In addition, the entire 2011 F-150 lineup will be at least 20 percent more fuel-efficient than today’s F-150 lineup. This is the most extensive powertrain overhaul in F-150's history.
We also are offering the 2011 F-150 XLT Custom Package with the all-new 3.7-liter V6 engine aimed at the entry-level personal use buyer. This new F-150 series will be ideal for Ranger owners interested in a pickup. For Ranger customers interested more in affordable transportation than an entry-level truck, we now either have or soon will offer many new affordable vehicles including the Fiesta, Focus, 7-passenger Grand C-MAX and the Transit Connect.
It is also important to note that the new Ranger is bigger than our current product and moves much closer in size to the current F-150. Its use in the U.S. would become even more limited, especially when compared to the increasingly fuel-efficient F-150.
Please continue to reinforce the benefits of our unprecedented upgrades to our F-150 powertrain lineup and availability of alternative product offerings, so your customers are aware that we have the right solutions to meet their needs.
Thank you for your support and business.

well, that just proves right there that ford could care less about the wants of there customers. pretty lame IMO, i know some people might look to an F-150 after the ranger is no longer made but id bet alot will either purchase a used ranger or buy a new small pickup from the other automakers so ford will be losing money either way. some people just dont want or cant use a full size truck and hopefully ford figures that out someday. o well, it is what it is now. thanks for copying that here, thats pretty good proof that the ranger is a done deal.

Re: rangers are no longer being made
That sucks! At least it's still being made in other parts of the world but it's just not the same. The ranger has gone through a lot of years and has seen other models come and go and has still survived.

Re: rangers are no longer being made
Oh well for people like me that will probably drive theirs until it's pretty much 'Done'..it doesn't change things much. Most parts (body in particular) will be available for a long time to come. Who knows this could even increase the value of Rangers in the future? Who'd have thought not too long ago that Olds and Pontiac would get canned?

Re: rangers are no longer being made
Looking for info I came across this big picture of the new overseas Ranger. http://www.fordtruckfanatics.com/for...ad.php?t=12642
You have to scroll down to see the picture. Notice these people have the impression it will be sold here. Then wondering about the New Jersey plant were mine was made (found out it was closed in 2004) these 2 lists related to Ford
world operations/facilities.

Fair enough. I was asking a serious question because I did not know he worked for them. If you think about not knowing he worked from them (and add in my desire for him to be wrong because I don't wanna see Rangers die) I'm sure you can see why I asked.
