Here is a good video of the Global Rangers unveiling in Australia. It ends with a nice company video of it. Lots of other videos to the right on this page of it and its' Mazda counterpart. In this video you can see 3 Ford cars that also won't be sold in Canada or the U.S.A.,...a 335 Boss..which isn't a Mustang...with a small super-charged V-8, the Ford Falcon and the Mondeo. The Global Ranger does look pretty nice. Had they chosen to sell it here along with the F series it may have increased the total truck sales for Ford instead of hurting F series sales much if at all. The 4 cylinder motors would have been a great option..such motors possibly too small for use in the F series.

One of those cars may be the civilian version of this new Police Interceptor.

So in Mexico you may have this truck soon? Ford claims that it won't be sold in the U.S. and Canada because it is almost the same size as a F-150. The 2nd video clearly shows the top of the tailgate is not close to the 5ft something of the F-150...and it looks to be overall a smaller package. I wonder if there will be a long box/regular cab variant?

I'm not sure we are getting this truck in Mexico. And I don't think Ford would make a bigger version of this Ranger. My truck has a 5 ft. bed, and the one on this new Ranger seems like it does, too.

I've seen tons of pics of this Ranger, but I still can't like that front end.

Hey Al..looks like it will be available there. I tried to get a Ford,Monterrey website. This is the Ford Mexico/Corporate website. The Ranger looks a little different at the front but otherwise the same. I'm thinking maybe you could take one for a test drive? One with a 4cyl diesel 4X4 would be interesting. If you could do it maybe you could post your impression of it? Looking at it again..it is the 2011 model..which is not like the one the U.S.A. and Canada have. So maybe the revamped 2012 won't be there for 8 months or so. Probably a local Ford dealer can answer that.

That's not the new Ranger. That's the updated version of my Ranger, which is just a 4-door Ranger with the 2.3L Duratec. The differences between that Ranger and mine are: Rear shocks are on the outside of the frame, not on the inside (this makes the truck ride so smooth); new front and rear end, including the tailgate; flares, running boards, center console, and that's it. IIRC, there are no automatic transmission crewcab Rangers. At least I've never ever seen one.

Unfortunately, we don't get Diesel engines here in Mexico. Central and South America do get Diesel. Funny how Ford thinks. Either way, Diesel here is not of the best quality, so...

The 'ALL NEW FORD RANGER' is a 2012 model. So, I'm thinking that if we do get that new Ranger, it'd be here by the second semester of next year. Which means, I will be going to a Ford dealership and try it out. lol. Thought about it the minute I saw the official new Ranger.

The end of the Ranger article really broke my heart. I feel sad now. They took something that was already great and completely destroyed it! It looks like a dern rice burnin Toyota!

I just further checked out the Ford Mexico website and was surprised to see this. I didn't know they still made the Courier. Not that I want one. Just thought it was long gone...pre-83 Ranger.

http://www.ford.com.mx/vehicles/gall...COU&section=VR

If you let it do the 360 spin and pause it showing the back...I think it has an independent rear end? And the box isn't separate..so maybe it is a unibody? IRS, unibody...might be FWD?...I don't know Spanish...probably says what in the specs?
So regardless of whether Canada and the U.S.A. ever get the global Ranger..they do have a small, cheap truck that could be introduced if fuel costs and other changes made Ford think they could sell such here.

Hahaha... Ford sells that little truck because VW has one called Pointer, and GM has the Tornado (which I had before the Ranger, and it was an awful ute). Never thought GM could manufacture such awful/cheap cars. Since the city where I live is known for the people to love trucks (Monterrey is the main industrial city in Mexico), having a F-150 is a waste of power and space, and so they still manufacture these small utes, which are useful, despite its many defects. Above those 3 (in regards to power and space), you can find the Ranger and Nissan NP300. Business owners usually buy the Nissan because it is easy to buy and fix. Then, on second place, you can find the Ranger. A neighbor has a Toyota Hilux (which is no longer sold in the US), and that truck is just like the Ranger, but the Tacoma is above the Ranger and Hilux, but is not as big as a F-150 or Tundra.

It does have independent rear end with leaf springs. It is FWD.

Regardless of the specs of the "Global" Ranger or whatever
Ford names it, that new truck, or what appears to be a truck
is NO Ranger and not even of the same blood lines!

Now with everyone here talking about it becoming available
here in the US in the near future. That remains to be seen,
but if so it leaves even more unanswered questions.
For one that new rice burning truck has got to be made
somewhere and it sure as hell ain't at the Twin Cities plant!
And there sure ain't nothing been said by Ford about it
being made at any other US plant! Well it's gotta come from
somewhere!

So not only has Ford pissed me off by closing the Twin Cities
plant and laying a few thousand people. It looks like the
rice burner will be an import. I don't appreciate Ford destroying
a great truck like the Ranger, and I really hate Ford laying off
all the damn yankees, which makes me mad. But Ford can
kissa my arse by moving the production out of the States.
Huum must be another form of union busting.....

They don't have anything else that appeals to me much anywho.

Let's see Ford tried to kill the Mustang but failed.
Ford ruined the T-bird!
They have for all practical purposes ruined the Exploder!
They have killed the Cougar which carried with it the Mecury line.
Now they are destroying the Ranger..... And this is just in the US!

I think all this prosperity has went to Ford's brain and they
are over-doing things a bit. But then again the public is
so ignorant and vane they don't know the difference between
FWD and RWD, unibody or frame, or anything else that
truly defines and differentiates vehicles and they really
don't care as long as the hype is there! And Ford is really
dishing out the hype lately!

Mike
