I'm averaging around 22.5 to 24 mpg at the same speeds for the long distance, even with the extra cylinders...

I get an avg of 21.5 highway and about 18 city in my little 2.3l then again when driving around hitting the blow off valve and hitting full boost or messing with the occasional import on the freeway you can subtract a couple mpgs from that lol I've been averaging 20mpg alot lately because I have been trying to drive the truck nicely until the new motor is in

I did a full tune up on my 2000 2.5L A/T (150,000 miles)(fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs, wires, pcv valve, cleaned intake system) I get around 26 mpg on the highway. Was getting around 23 before the tune up.

Doing a bit better than me. I get 21 - 22 mpg. I'm hoping when I swap the axle for a 3.73, it will do a bit better.

I've got 4.10 in mine.....I guess Ford thinks you need that if you got the automatic 4 cyl.

I think the gears in an automatic are taller than in a manual, thus the lower differential ratio. The manual had the choice of the 3.45 or 3.73 for the year mine was made. 3.45 is too tall for this area, I have to down shift a lot more than I should need to.

If it was flat it probably would be. I think the truck came from the mid west. I have to downshift on the high way at times too, even at 70 mph.

I just did my second fill up and got 20.4 mpg all city driving with/without air. I only have 672 miles on it so I hope it improves as the engine loosens up.
