Crew cab ranger vs Sport Trac
I just wanted to start this thread for the heck of it. I have seen pictures of the crew cab ranger and they are not that awesome. I have always considered the Sport Trac the crew cab ranger. Plus, it looks better. I love my ford ranger, but I did want a sport trac. I was just curious to see if anyone else had any thoughts on these two trucks.

Re: Crew cab ranger vs Sport Trac
IMO i think the crew cab ranger looks better than the sport trac because it looks like a ranger. i dont care for the sport tracs, the front end it styled different, the body lines are different and the frame is based off the explorer and not the ranger giving it less ground clearance. the newer ones have IRS which makes for a nice ride but isnt so great if youre like me and want to use your truck like a truck, not a car. what it boils down to is that i want to see a damn crew cab RANGER not a ranger look a like with 4 doors, but that brings us to a discussion thats come up too many times already.

Re: Crew cab ranger vs Sport Trac
Well, I haven't been a member that long and do not feel like going through every thread to find what has and has not been talked about, so it was easy to do make a new one. Like I said, I was only curious to what others thought. I guess the look the crew cab ranger hasn't grown on me yet. I did not like the avalanche when it first came out, but now I would like to own one. I love the ranger, especially the extended cab version. No need for some of you to get too touchy with this. I guess it will really only matter if they release the crew cab in the U.S. I'm sure if they do, I'll probably get one eventually(By that I mean when I can afford and good used one :P) I love the Ranger.

just to be clear what crew cab ranger are you referring to? the south american ones look exactly like ours but they have 4 doors. if your talking about the asian or european ones than i can see why you might not like those, they dont look anything like what we are used to here.
south american:
asian/ european:

Re: Crew cab ranger vs Sport Trac
My dad owns a first gen sport trac abd I like it, it can tow a ton ( a whole 54 f-100 and some other stuff up a hill doing 80mph and not skip a beat) its fairly quick and dosent get too horrible gas mileage (18ish) it feels like a ranger with a tiny ned and a big cab haha

Re: Crew cab ranger vs Sport Trac
I've thought about finding an old sport trac and lifting it. I like them lifted.
If they would have offered the 4.6 in the older version I would own one

Re: Crew cab ranger vs Sport Trac
That European one looks like a poorly modified Sport Trac. The south american one does look like a normal ranger. Forget the European one, no use for it, I would definitely get a sport trac over that one. The south american one looks like it is missing something. Like maybe the front end of the truck needs to be beefier. It looks okay, but with a leveling kit maybe some different tires and wheel and something to make the front look bigger. maybe like the FX4. I don't know. Maybe just a leveling kit would make it look a little better. Does make me jealous to see the white ranger like that. Looks just like mine, but with a crew cab and a diesel engine something i have always wanted in my truck. Oh well, one day.

Re: Crew cab ranger vs Sport Trac
This is by far the best looking Crewcab Ranger I've seen around.
It is 4x4 and the ride is pretty cool, since the rear suspension got the redesigned out-of-the-frame shocks setup. Mine has the shocks on the inside of the frame and the ride sucks big time.
This is mine:
Let me tell you what it is so good about it. It gives me 30 mpg. A couple of months ago, my city got hit my Hurricane Alex and everything was flooded badly. I managed to help a couple of Rams and S10 to get out of flooded streets. And it is 2wd. I had to paint the front bumper, cuz it got scratched, but it is fine. Bed space sometimes is an issue, but I've hauled a whole living room set, fridges, stoves... and I've managed to ride with my 6 coworkers, all of us inside the cab. I guess it is just a matter of the use you're gonna give to it.
I was gonna buy a Supercab Ranger Stepside before I found my Crewcab. It had the 3.0 and it was the last American Ranger model sold here in Mexico. Guy wanted 10k for it, and it was worth it. It had 33s. Honeycomb grille... but I just didn't have the money for it. And so I bought mine for 6k. Low mileage and its mint condition made me bought it instead of the 3 passenger Ranger.
If only I had access to a FX4 Level II

Re: Crew cab ranger vs Sport Trac
neither.
I can't forsee the bed getting any smaller than it is now. I would have to go fullsize if that were the case. Or a taco with a 6 foot bed.
I honestly wish they would offer the supercab with the 7ft bed.
