Default 4x4 taking its sweet time to engage

Hi all....Wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to why when I switch my 4x4 on to low or high it takes it sweet ass time...sometimes I have to back up, pull forward, switch to off, on, off, on...etc...and then it takes forever to disengage too?????

I think if your switching it on, off, on, off, on,off excessively and switching from 4 hi to 4low (which only engages if your brake pedal is to the floor) and your backing up, going forward.... your probably confusing the 4x4 system by making so many changes.
Just turn the switch to 4hi. now, did the "4x4" icon show on your dash? if yes, then you are in 4x4! (you won't hear any noises, so you have to physically drive the truck to find out if it is actually in 4x4) Also, to disengage you have to back up about 15 feet after you put it back to 2hi,
