Default 1999 Ford Ranger brakes?

When you press the brake the pedal it vibrates really fast like the ABS system is working even when your not braking hard. It does this about 1/10th of the time does anyone have a clue what makes it do that? Also the parking/emergency brake doesn't work, mayby rust in the line keeping it stuck, is there anyway of cleaning it (it's stuck about the last 3 feet of the line)? Also is there anyway to figure out where the vaccume locking hubs for the 4x4 are leaking (one works one doesn't)?

the vibration on the brakes sounds like you need new pads on the front. it will vibrate if your getting close to the Rotter. The emergency brake cable Maybe you should take it all the way out and clean it up and replace it.

e-brake cables:

Sounds very much like the trouble I had w/ mine ('98). I replaced them with parts from NAPA which were fine for a while, they went within 2 years, they don't have the little wiper grommet at either end and so water got in and corroded the wire.

Bob Utter Ford sells parts at a discount, online. I just replaced the cables again, they cost < $40 each.

Brake "shuddering"... can you be more specific on why you think it's the ABS system? My problem is similar, except that at road speed, I don't get the pulsing in the brake pedal, it only happens occasionally just before I stop rolling. You can't even tell at what speed, the speedo doesn't register that low a speed.
