Here are some pictures of the ultragauge taken apart. To take apart the casing you need a really small paperclip tip to unlock the case, you will see 6 small holes, 2 on the top 2 on the bottom, and 1 on each side, just push the paperclip tip into the hole and pull that corner.

You can unsolder the wires and make your custom installation like I will. or you can but a ethernet male/female connector and make it like the scangauge.

either way here are the pictures, components looks very good made, having years of experience in this field I must say they are very good made.

I think you dont have to worry to much about the exact MPG, just use instant MPG and mantain that number high.

Just touch the solder joint with a soldering iron and they will come off, the PCB board is already marked with names of the colors.

I will log my custom install and I will post all the pictures and steps.

Just in case you are asking if this ultragauge is compatible with CAN protocol, IT IS. and they say 2008 and up but it worked great on my 2007 Mazda 6 V6.

I've read on their forum that a few users are having trouble with batteries being drained, even when it turns off. Any incite?

MIne should be at the house tomorrow. I'm super excited to get this thing installed. I'm hoping like my radar detector helped control my speed, that this thing brings to light ways that I can better control how I drive. Can't wait!

I havent experience that on my car, but I did notice that if you plug the unit with the car turned off , the ultragauge will turn on without the keys, so maybe thats what happening with those people, I susggest to turn the car on and then plug the unit.
