I thought XL's only got the 4.0 if they have the 7' bed/4WD. Also, are those leather trimmed seats?

It could either have the 2.3 or 3.0

If it has a 4.0 some one put it on there them selves.

the 4.0 was only available in the 4x4. and the 2wd rangers (2002) only came in 2.3 or 2.5. either this dealer is hoping to pull a scam, or is really stupid, or as STL said, maybe someone dropped in a 4.0

Yeah no one said AWD. But if it had 4WD it would say 4X4 in big letters on the gate and far end of the sides of the bed. But, like STL said 2.3 or 3.0, and since it's a long bed all arrows point to 3.0 since that was the standard engine for long bed Rangers.

i test drove a 06 base model ranger it didnt even have ac or a cd player nop power lock or windows nothing but it had a 4.0 in it and the dealer said it was a misfit car because its not supost to exist so it could very well have the 4.0 in it from the factory

I've seen 2wd long bed Ranger XL's with 4.0's but they were fleet trucks.
