Hi, i am new here and dont have a Ranger, but in the market for one for my son. Maybe you guys can let me know what you think of this deal...
2004 Edge, 3.0, 2x4, 4.10s, a/c, regular cab, regular bed with liner and cover. Its in really nice shape with 57,000 miles and all the service records. He wants $7000 for it....

I would skip on the 3.0 and look for a 2.3 or 4.0

3.0 is the worst engine in these rangers.

alot of people knock the 3.0 for being underpowered and bad mileage, but im real happy with mine
for the mileage and service records if its a one owner truck which was taken care of its not alot... it also depends on the options.... if it was one of the stripped down white ones with hardly any options its not worth it.... In my area you can get those fleet vehicles for half that albeit with more mileage

too much for a 2wd regular cab 3.0 that's 6 years old.

either get a 2.3 for way better mileage, or find a 4.0 with the same mileage as the 3.0 but more power.

But on another note the 3.0 is a dependable engine, just the numbers are horrible, I still think it is over priced

yea i wouldn't dog the 3.0 either i have one and my brother has one and they are tuff little motors. I have really abused my little motor red lining it all the time because well i'm stupid lol and i love to hear my 40 series. these motors are bullet proof! and well i do the oil on my truck every 2,000 so i keep her clean. just maintain her and keep up on the daily/weekly maintenance and they will last for ever. i say go for it!!! 2.3 to small not dogging it's a great motor! pops 2.3 has over 170,000 miles on his 86. 4.0 yea there big but i don't think there the bee's knees. they should be pushing out more power by now. my buddy's frontier 4.0 push's 263 H.P now thats a 4.0 to brag on. Ford should eco boost it up then i would be bragging on it.

every ranger engine is outdated to the new stuff.

our new Ford Edge is 3.5L that puts out 265 hp and averages 19 mpg, 25+ on the highway.

I guess it will get it's updated engine when the new one comes out at some point

It is a red Edge. Not stripped and not loaded. It drove really nice. What does the Edge package add. I noticed the matching baumpers and fender flairs, anything else??

it will also have a torsion bar suspension like the 4wd's. I would take it if you could get it for 5,000

As far as the interior, EDGE Rangers are basically the same as the bare bones XL's, but USUALLY they'll have the 6 disc in dash CD changer stereo instead of the basic am/fm radio.
